Florida doctor refuses unvaccinated patients: https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/national-international/no-vax-no-visit-south-florida-doctor-wont-treat-unvaccinated-patients-in-person/3258103/ . Comments on this article mostly agree with the doctor, but one person pointed out there is a Hippocratic Oath. This genius wants his right to choose to be stupid, but denies the doctor that right because she’s a professional. And by the way, Hippocrates also said, First, do no harm. This genius is doing harm to his community by not getting vaccinated.
The future of COVID: https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2021/09/06/why-we-cant-turn-the-corner-on-covid-509349 . While this article tells us many things we already know, it misses a huge point. I agree that elimination of the virus is not currently possible, and that our goal is to get to a low level of cases. So we need to prepare for that future. Public health principles say that we must have contact tracing, testing and isolation in order to prevent spread. Our failure to embrace that, 20 months into the pandemic, is why we’re still having waves despite significant vaccination.
WSJ: The future of medical practice: https://www.wsj.com/articles/tech-advances-put-the-annual-doctor-visit-on-the-critical-list-11630933201 . While I agree that telemedicine is here to say and will expand over time, this article is overwrought concerning the annual physical. Pretty much every practitioner will tell you they want to see their patients in order to accurately diagnose their situation.

WSJ: The Miami Herald tells us to stuff it: https://www.wsj.com/articles/miami-herald-florida-covid-new-deaths-data-desantis-11630819045 . We all know the Journal caters to a conservative audience. Still, it is inappropriate for them to publish “opinions” which are misleading to the point of slander. They could start by applying that standard to their own editorial board. Those guys live in La-La Land.
Rich countries may have 1.2 billion COVID vaccine dose surplus by the end of 2021: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/9/5/rich-countries-will-have-1-2bn-vaccine-dose-surplus-data-firm . We have to do better. Remember that all the major variants emerged abroad, and mostly in the developing world.
Ohio decision forcing hospital to use ivermectin reversed: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/judge-says-ohio-hospital-cannot-be-forced-use-ivermectin-treat-n1278576 . The insanity may continue, however, as the comments in the article loosely imply that ivermectin was administered and the patient’s condition improved. The FDA warned against ivermectin six months ago.

Kevin McCarthy is still an idiot: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/sep/06/republicans-6-january-investigation-intimidation . McCarthy’s attempt at intimidation is very kindly described as “his own strategic miscalculations”. Seriously, how can someone be this stupid? His failure to accept a joint commission was a huge error. But his bigger error was to cave to Orange Julius after January 6. Kevin literally demonstrates no ability at any task.
