95% of COVID-19 deaths over 50: https://www.aarp.org/health/conditions-treatments/info-2020/coronavirus-deaths-older-adults.html . About 80% of COVID-19 deaths are over age 65.

The latest Electoral College news: https://apnews.com/article/presidency-battleground-states-races-84ba06c8d2dd3c16434f0b9a852a5d17 . Interestingly, this article was written Wednesday night. Nothing has changed as of Thursday night in the electoral count. But Pennsylvania counting heavily favors Biden: https://www.politico.com/news/2020/11/05/biden-closes-in-on-trump-pennsylvania-434551 .

And to update Politico: As of 1 am Friday, Trump leads Biden by 18,000 votes with at least the 209,000 votes outstanding that Politico cites. AP cites Trump 3,285,965, Biden 3,267,923 and 95% of the vote counted, which suggests over 300,000 votes outstanding. Even if the 95% is not sufficiently updated, the speed of the Pennsylvania count indicates there are more than enough outstanding votes for Biden to overtake Trump.

North Dakota candidate wins after death: https://www.politico.com/news/2020/11/04/gop-state-legislature-candidate-in-north-dakota-who-died-of-covid-wins-election-433998 . As previously reported here, this allows the state’s Republican party to appoint a Republican to the seat.

WSJ: Pollsters miss again: https://www.wsj.com/articles/what-went-wrong-with-the-polls-this-year-11604536409 .

WSJ: Trump litigation is also a loser: https://www.wsj.com/articles/gop-lawsuit-in-pennsylvania-questions-validity-of-some-mail-in-ballots-11604500061 . So far, no credible argument has been advanced to change election results (I’m being polite – it’s mindless BS so far). WSJ: More: https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-trump-campaign-is-suing-over-voting-procedures-a-look-at-the-lawsuits-11604618514 . Again, the article’s statement of “long odds” is all you need to know. But it would be better if Biden wins either Nevada or Georgia in addition to Arizona. Still more: https://www.wsj.com/articles/election-2020-trumps-lawsuits-are-getting-mixed-results-11604617463 . “Mixed results” is an overstatement. And there is no meaningful evidence in the Nevada case.

No one is missing the fact that Trump wants the vote count to stop where he is ahead (Pennsylvania) but continue where he is behind (Arizona, Nevada). To quote Bugs Bunny, what a maroon!

Lastly, this reader-forwarded comment made me laugh out loud: “The only way Trump can get to 270 now is to lose 50 pounds”.

The Brit/Pakistani view of the US presidency: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/nov/03/donald-trump-us-presidents-joe-biden . The opinion expressed here is that while Trump is a bully, all US presidents are, just not so obviously. The writer further contends that this is a widely held view around the world. This is an understandable view from someone who lives in Pakistan (where we killed Osama bin Laden).

It is also understandable given the first president the writer remembers is Nixon. As Nixon resigned in 1974, you have to be at least in your mid-fifties to remember him as president. The vast majority of the world population does not remember Nixon, Carter, Reagan, George HW Bush or even Bill Clinton as president. Clinton is included as a reminder that not every person on the planet knows who the US president is.
